Notes from Scout: A nose guard whose best attribute is his ability to occupy blockers, Clark fits into a 3-4 type of scheme where his biggest job is to hold his ground. Size can be considered a strength and a weakness, as he carries too much bad weight as a high school player, but is a naturally large kid. Will be much more effective at 320 as opposed to 340. Could end up as an offensive guard should his quickness not improve - Scott Kennedy (Strengths: Intensity/effort, size; Areas for improvement: Change of direction, lateral range, quickness of the ball)

ESPN notes: Davis is effective playing the linebacker position both on and off the line of scrimmage; will need to improve his playing speed and strength as he moves to the next level of competition. Has the minimum height but lacks the body mass we like to see for the outside linebacker position at the next level. This is a tough guy with the solid wrap tackling ability which should earn him time as a special teams coverage defender; is also effective rushing PAT's & FG's off the edge. We detect some hip tightness when turning and changing direction however his key and diagnosis reaction skills along with his intense desire to chase down the football allow him to move through traffic and avoid trash when pursuing the football. Although we like his quickness getting off the mark, his playing strength as it relates to taking on blockers at the point of attack must improve. We see potential as a zone coverage defender; flashes good route awareness and a feel for receivers in his area gets a good break on underneath throws. Has quite a few unblocked sacks to his credit as an edge rusher; does show a short closing burst to the quarterback when rushing off the edge. Davis appears to have the skills necessary for production at the non BCS level of play.

ESPN notes: (Done for the Class of 2009 as a FB) Edmond is a very solid football player that shows toughness and above average athletic ability as a fullback. He has good size and a plays with a low center of gravity. As a running back, shows ability to play fullback, ace back, or H-back. Good vision when carrying the football; finds the creases and seem when running the trap and dive. Powerful running back that can break tackles and is tough to bring down. A tough player that isn't afraid to take or give a punch. A sound blocker that delivers on defensive ends and linebackers with authority. Tends to stop legs after initial contact; needs to be a better finisher when blocking. Edmond is a workhorse at the fullback position and will fit in well with a program that uses a true fullback. He is especially impressive when running from the straight I.

ESPN notes: Laseak is very active both defending the pass and run; demonstrates steady playing speed but lacks a great closing burst. Has the size and athleticism for the outside linebacker position at the major level of competition. His frame appears capable of handling additional body mass over time. We see the consistent wrap tackling skill and ability to move through traffic necessary to contribute on special teams. Demonstrates good hip flexibility, balance and agility when playing in space; does a good job with key and diagnosis reaction skills, getting a good jump on run and pass plays. This guy is a tough customer who flashes the playing strength to take on and defeat blockers at the point of attack; moves through traffic with good balance and the hand quickness to shed blockers. We like his downhill play and sideline to sideline effort, taking good pursuit angles to the football. Plays from both a two and three point stance showing good up-field sure as an edge rusher; demonstrates the ability to squeeze the pocket along with a good inside change up move. His ability to disguise alignments is affective when passing situations. We see potential as a zone coverage defender; crosses over for depth with eyes on the quarterback; displays good route awareness, getting into throwing lanes; has very good ball skills with three interceptions, showing the ability to catch out of the frame. This guy is a playmaker who gets around the football and is capable of making game changing plays. Although Laseak is presently flying under the radar as a BCS level prospect his toughness and production warrant continued evaluation as his senior season progresses.

results: 40-yard dash (4.76); 20-yard shuttle (4.49); vertical jump (31.3).
According
to ESPN: Patterson is not the biggest or fastest running back prospect but
he has very good feet and quickness to warrant a look at the mid-major level. Short but
is well-built with a low center of gravity. Shorter stature and low running
base makes it difficult for defenders to get a clean shot through traffic. Quick and shifty back with good lateral movements and cutting
ability. Vision is sound. Gets small through as an in-line runner and is
difficult to find behind his linemen. Displays quick feet,
loose hips jump-cutting and sharp footwork changing direction. Shows he
can stretch it outside and turn the corner or cut it back between the tackles
and avoid over pursuing defenders. Runs low, is determined and overall a
scrappy in-line runner who can break some initial contact. Has a deceptively
strong lower running base. Has soft hands and
receiving skills which adds to his versatility and projection as a utility or
change-of-pace back. While elusive, shifty and difficulty to hit solidly in a
confined area, he's quicker than fast and lacks great top-end speed in the open
field and an extra gear to separate when he gets into the second level. We
question if he will be able to stay durable at the major college level at his
size and continue producing as an inside zone runner. That said, we still feel like Patterson is falling under the radar at
the non-BSC level as projected utility or all-purpose back. Good competitor
with some natural running skill-set and he adds value
in return game.

notes: Roberts at the high school level will play some wide receiver
and tight end, but at the next level he will be a tight end. He possesses good
size and carries his weight well and looks to have a frame that could support
more good size with time in a college weight program. He looks to come from a
program that emphasizes the run, but he does offer a good sized target in the
passing game. Flashes good hands and will try and extend and catch the ball
away from his body. He could potentially present a nice red-zone target if he
can demonstrate the ability to go-up for the ball. He displays solid speed and
looks to be more of a short-to-intermediate target in the passing game. After
the catch he is a big-straight-lined kid who does not display the ability to
elude defenders, but will put his shoulder down and try and fight for yards. He
is asked to block at the high school level and has good size, but does need to
keep developing as a blocker. He will try and get hands on, but needs to work
on placement. As a taller kid he needs to work to keep his pads down and coming
out of his stance he needs to take good controlled steps and he engages a
defender and roll his hips and generate power from his lower body to help him
create push. He needs to play with more bend and under more control as a
blocker. He will display the ability to get the job done and may just be a
stick-and-stay type blocker at his best, but at this point he can seem to do
just enough and with some tweaks can better maintain and finish blocks. Roberts
has nice size and flashes some tools as a receiver and blocker. Improvements as
a blocker as a senior and some more opportunities to catch the ball and display
his ability as a receiver could help elevate his "stock" some.

notes: Schany shows good toughness and
production when playing against the run; flashes the playing speed to make
plays from sideline to sideline. Possesses the size,
athleticism and playing strength for the outside linebacker position at the
major level of competition. This guy is a knock'em
back wrap tackler who will punish ball carriers when given the opportunity;
should be productive as a special team's coverage player. We detect some hip
tightness when playing in space however his instincts, balance and agility get
him to the football; does a good job with key and diagnosis reaction skills
against the pass and run. Plays downhill against the run and although we like
his upper body playing strength and ability to stack the inside run at the
point of attack, his shiver and shed technique could improve. Moves through
traffic very well using his foot quickness to beat blockers to the ball; does a
good job in long pursuit. Is productive with blitz timing up the middle; can be
disruptive against the run and pass. We see potential as a zone coverage
defender; flashes good route recognition awareness with eyes on the quarterback
and decent break on the ball; may have enough athleticism and foot speed to
handle carefully game planned man coverage assignments. This is a tough
customer with a knack for getting to the football and making momentum changing
plays. Schany does not appear to be an immediate
starter at the BCS level of play. However early situational playing time
remains a possibility unless a red shirt year is deemed necessary.

ESPN notes: Smith is a tall, rangy safety prospect with a physical, hard-hitting mentality and will rarely miss a tackle. Is a hybrid safety type and given his measurables could down the line grow into an outside linebacker. Has a long frame that can add the bulk needed to keep his aggressive style of play to the next level. Displays good speed but tends to build up to top end. Is a quick reactor, particularly to the run. Will line up in the box, at the natural safety position or even take snaps at corner. From a high-point safety position, he displays an adequate to good burst to close. When lining up in the box, is a disruptive blitzer off the edge. Will fight through trash to wrap up and drag down ball carrier for a loss. Flashes some hip tension hindering his lateral change-of-direction. In coverage at safety will cushion and separate ball from receiver. We don't see the coverage experience to match up with slot receiver or tight end at the major college level on a consistent basis. Does not show great acceleration to get underneath route. Shows versatility as a special teams player, flying down field to make a big tackle. Overall, Smith is a raw, athletic talent who may contribute on special teams in a big role at the next level. Will need to refine his technique and gain some additional experience in coverage.

ESPN notes: Tanner is a defensive end prospect with good size for a high school player at the position. He has good height and carries good bulk and displays a frame that can support more size with further physical development. He is not a flashy kid and displays a solid get-off and you would like to see him work to be a little more consistently quick off the ball. He can play the run well and does a nice job of consistently coming out of his stance and shooting his hands and being able to quickly maintain some separation. He can play with some bend and keep good pad level and can be solid at the point of attack. He does need to improve strength and maintain a good base and also be a bit more explosive coming out of his stance as he can get himself in good initial position but can narrow his base and get turned and be pushed off the ball. He does a solid job of coming across the line and staying square and in a "football position". Displays adequate speed in pursuit and can display some rigidness in his ability to quickly change directions. As a pass rusher he will bring his hands and maintain some space, but needs to be more violent with his weapons and make sure to have a plan and not attack the whole man. He will flash the ability to work to the shoulder and be able to play off the block, but can seem to tend to attack blockers down the middle and get caught up and lose time. Tanner is a prospect that could be a solid run defending end with some improved strength and adjustments to his game. Shows tools to potentially develop into a steady and productive starter or provide good situational depth.

ESPN notes: Although Watson lines up as a guard we feel his size, athleticism and playing strength are better suited for the offensive tackle position at the major level of competition; it appears his frame is capable of handling additional body mass over time. We detect some lower body stiffness playing out of a three point stance. However his balance and agility allow him to play on his feet in space; comes off the ball aggressively but too high at times; demonstrates the initial quickness to gain and sustain an advantage while his blocking base and persistent leg drive allow him to sustain. On those occasions when he comes off the ball with a good fit and low pad level, we see him knock defenders off the ball. Is efficient when asked to pull and trap; can adjust to movement while showing good finishing explosion at the point of attack. We see enough balance and agility to get a hat on active 1st and 2nd level defenders. With added bulk and improved playing strength, this lineman should be capable of making all the run blocks at the next level. His arm length should be an asset in pass protection however all areas of hand use will need refinement. Displays good short set quickness; can battle and play stout vs. the straight power rush; must improve his ability to bend and slide as he tends to play too straight legged at times. This guy is a tough customer who works to finish blocks. Watson has BCS potential as a tackle however he will need some time and perhaps a red shirt year to grow physically while polishing his skills.

According
to ESPN: Windham is an athletic prospect that is a bit on the shorter side,
but he is well built and has a live arm. Plays in the shotgun spread and is a
smooth operator with confidence and the ability to get rid of the football
quickly. He gets set, works through reads, does a nice job of keeping his eyes
downfield and can evade the rush with good initial quickness. He is a snappy
decision maker. Plants and the ball is out, re-sets when necessary, but there
isn't much wasted motion to his methods. Carries the ball very high, props it
up from drop to set up and is very consistent in his delivery methods. One
thing that stands out about Windham is his ability to change ball speeds. Shows
great touch and timing when necessary and then will surprise you with some zip
and mustard you did not think he had. Is a very good timing passer on corners,
seams and throws that require touch and zip at the same time.
Needs to be in the shotgun to see the field best and this scheme also does a
good job of moving the launch point, rolling him out and throwing on the run
which he is very adept at doing. He has great feet, is a runner, but passer
first. Can tuck the ball, scramble, and make some yards when things break down.
He is a dual-threat, but maybe not to the point of moving positions. Play speed
is good for the position. However, Windham can have somewhat of a long release
despite carrying the ball so high. He throws with authority, but can also look
like he is aiming the ball as well. Windham reminds us a little of Jeffrey Godrey from the 2010 class, but with a thicker build. Solid prospect that possesses some physical gifts and redeeming
qualities.
